ABSTRACT

This study is a descriptive research study to provide basic data on development of arbitration law for mental health promotion by recognizing the degree of mental health depending on characteristics of subjects via mental health survey of residents in Il region. It analyzed subjecting on 317 residents who use Dong-gu health center, Busan from June 1 to July 11, 2011. As a tool, Symptom Checklist was used. Characteristics of subjects are as following: women were about 1.5 times of men, most of them were 40's to 50's, monthly income is under one million won, and most of them have no job and live alone. According to the characteristics of subjects, mental health of subjects who have chronic physical disease, mental illness, and attempted suicide was negative. In particular, depression was negative in subjects having low academic career, living alone, and being Basic Living Assistance Recipients. Anxiety was negative in subjects having chronic physical disease, mental illness, and attempted suicide. Therefore, it is seemed that related policy and systematical tools for improving mental health of such subjects should be prepared.
