AB - This study tried to find the differences in consumers' awareness and behaviors for consumer safety between the year of 2008 and 2010, using recent representative data. In addition this study investigated the influencing factors in consumers' awareness and behaviors for consumer safety. Summary of results of this study follows. First, consumers' awareness of safety, consciousness for consumers responsibility of safety, and search behavior for the safety mark were the more positive in 2010 than that of 2008, but there were not significant differences in consumers' experience of unsafe accidents, search behavior for information regarding safety, purchase behavior for the safe products, react behavior after experiencing unsafe accidents between those two periods. Second, consumers' awareness of safety and governmental policy of mark alerting safety were the more positive in 2010 than that of 2008, but there were not significant differences in consumers' perceptions for the social effort, firm's management and governmental policy for consumer safety between those two periods. Third, consumers were more likely to have high unsafe accidents and low consciousness for consumers responsibility of safety when they had lower level of awareness and behavior regarding consumer safety. Consumers with having experience of unsafe accidents, safe behavior actively were more likely to search information relating consumer safety. Consumers with active search information for safety was more likely to search for safety mark. Consumers were more likely to purchase safe products when they have higher perception for consumer safety, high responsibility for safety, and to be active for reaction in order to have problem-solving toward unsafe accident. Finally, consumers' perception was negative when they have high perception and consumer responsibility relating consumer safety, consumers with active search behavior for the safe information showed positive perception for the firm's management for product safety, in 2010. Overall consumers showed positive perception for Governmental policy for consumer safety when they had high perception for consume safety, active information search for consumer safety, and had high behavior for safety.
