ABSTRACT

The purpose of this research is to confirm the mediating effects of fear of negative evaluation and difficulty in naming of emotion on the relationship between behavioral inhibition system (BIS) and interpersonal relationship skills among 489 employees in Korea. The main research findings were as follow. First, a higher BIS score was associated with higher levels of fear of negative evaluation and difficulty in naming of emotion, while higher scores on fear of negative evaluation and difficulty in naming of emotion were associated with lower scores on interpersonal relationship skills. Second, fear of negative evaluation and difficulty in naming of emotion completely mediated the influence of BIS on interpersonal relationship skills. The results of this research show that BIS has an indirect effect on interpersonal relationship skills through fear of negative evaluation and difficulty in naming of emotion.
