ABSTRACT

This study attempts to analyze various Internet collective action cases and explain the political possibility and implications in Korea. Using the logic of collective action and cooperation theory, this paper analyzes dynamism of cyber civil society and democratic development of Internet collective action. The case study showed that it contained various results. The Internet collective action has merits, as compared with traditional off line collective action. The Internet makes lower transaction cost for collective action and enlarges civil participation on political and social issues. Therefore the Internet collective action, caused by voluntary participation and cooperation, solves the dilemma of collective action, such as transaction cost, method of participation and free rider.
