ABSTRACT

The primary purpose of this paper is to interpret the definition of life politics which are used in Korea very confusingly. The first half of this article, in order to understand the right concept of life politics, introduces the concept of life politics which Giddens used first in Western Europe and other related concepts such as reflective modernization, globalization, emancipatory politics, subpolitics so on. Afterwards the relationship between life politics and Habermas’ concept of lifeworld will be turned out. In the second half of this paper will be asked which conceptual element the life politics lack. The Answer is the forming of solidarity through a development of civil society and civic engagement which one can recognize in the German politics for the civil society.
