ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to find the effects of recognition and reward for volunteer on the norm, trust, and network of community. This study attempts to explain whether or not the recognition and reward for Volunteer as a independent variables affects norm, trust, and network, with control variables sex, generation gap, education, TV viewing, newspaper reading, and volunteering. The data from 186 volunteers belonging to the social welfare agencies using recognition and reward management for volunteers were collected. This research utilizes descriptive analysis and multiple regression analysis. The calculation employed the use of PASW Statistics 18. The results show that the recognition and reward for volunteer affects the norm. It is found that generation gap affects the norm, trust, social capital, and that volunteering does network. Findings of this study suggests that social welfare agency should manage volunteers through the administrative tools like recognition and reward in order to make community people to decrease the selfishness and free riding, to help each other, to participate for solving community problems.
