ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to find out the shapes of Su Zhe(蘇轍) reflected in Su Shi(蘇軾)’s poems. According to my research, there are more than 300 poems which show the shapes of Su Zhe in Su Shi’s poems. These poems account for more than 10% of his about 2,800 poems. I attempted to find out Su Zhe’s various shapes reflected in Su Shi’s poems by analyzing these poems in depth. As a result, I found out that Su Zhe played the role of a blood brother, a poetical companion, a political ally and a partner in rural life to Su Shi. I think that the reasons why those were possible are as follows. Firstly, the friendship between these brothers was very deep. Secondly, Su Zhe revered Sh Shi as a good teacher and followed him. Thirdly, Su Shi regarded Su Zhe as a good friend and respected him. Fourthly, both of them had excellent literary talent.
