ABSTRACT

This article reexamines the poetic status of shiyun(世運) in Qian Qianyi’s poetry through a combination of digital-humanities methods and close reading. The corpus consists of 2,153 poems from Chuxue Ji and Youxue Ji. Previous scholarship has usually treated lingxin(靈心), shiyun, and xuewen(學問) as interrelated categories within Qian’s poetics. However, it has not sufficiently demonstrated how shiyun becomes visible across the corpus through lexical fields and clusters of poetic representation. This study, therefore, redefines shiyun not as a mere historical background, but as a shishi(詩史) epistemic norm that organizes historical reality in poetic language. Methodologically, this study uses character- bigram TF-IDF and Keyness for macro lexical analysis. It then validates patterns at the mid-level by examining recurrent markers across seventeen collection groups and a heatmap. Finally, it offers close readings of representative poems to analyze textual realization.
