ABSTRACT

Youth  was  the  symbol  of  modernity  at  East  Asia  in  early  20  century.  Nowadays, as neo‐liberalism demonstrates great power in the all fields of  Chinese  society,  the  meaning  and  position  of  youth  has  been  changed  accordingly. Recently, China presents great size of economy, therefore consumerism  culture  also  have  grown  up,  housing  expenses  raised.  But  the income of almost of youth group is not enough to bear it, they can be  called  “new  poor”  in  the  both  side  of  mental  and  material.  So  their  economic difficulties and housing difficult became the social problem in  China.  On  the  basis  of  these  condition,  discourse  and  syndrome  that  express the self‐deprecating of youth, Diaosi(屌絲) ‐ a kind of loser –represents phenomenon like that. On the other hand, the new self‐awareness  of  worker  appeared,  the  term  of  “new  worker(新工人)”  explain the condition of Chinese style precariat which have no protection or  support  of  government  or  their  rural  hometown.  The  term  of  “new  poor” and “new worker” explains the reality of Chinese Youth neo‐liberalist  period.  It  is  the  shadow  of  the  rapid  development.
