AB - A good presentation has been an important factor of high education to faculties in teaching as well as to students in classes not only because it would be one of the capacities required by the society but it would be also the important tool to convey what they have learned and share it with others. Therefore, building good presentation skills has become an indispensable part of the abilities that are asked to the foreign students who study in local universities. It is necessary to have the foreign students who study in local universities educated specifically about what the purpose of a presentation is, how it should be prepared, how the structures and the contents in a presentation should be composed of, and how it should be conveyed to the target audience.
The current study will elicit the primary learning contents to educate the presentation skills and propose the instructional method to give efficient instruction by introducing several case studies for presentation class in undergraduate studies college of liberal arts to be targeted for the foreign students who have come from other countries.
The purpose of the current study is to investigate the case studies of the presentation class only for the foreign students in college and to propose the contents and the instructional method in order to set the environmental conditions to improve the ability of academic presentation without considering individual differences of the foreign students such as mother languages, background knowledge, education experiences, and language skills.
The results of operating real classes showed that Korean skills did not influence a lot on the presentation skills, rather, that the attitudes of the foreign students to try to understand the substance or the features of the presentation and to communicate actively with audiences improved the effectiveness of the presentation. Most foreign students concerned about their language skills in their presentation. However, it is more important factor for a successful presentation to focus on studying how to convey the contents to the audiences in their presentation.
