ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the pitch and rate of voices on the speaker's impression formation. Experimental study design was composed of 170 students participating in this study. We manipulated 200 voices to produce voice samples to carry out the research. Each voice reads a short sentence with the same content. After reading, the subjects are asked to evaluate the speaker. Impression evaluation consists of attractiveness and personality factors (extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability, openness). As a result of the experiment, it was found that the higher or faster the voice, the higher the perceived attractiveness of the speaker, and the higher the perceived attraction, the higher the perceived personality factor.
