ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to examine the operation cases of the non-subject <Gulbang> program of Hansung University Writing Center, and to suggest improvement plans. <Geulbang> is a program in which a small group of about 5 people is enrolled in a class for 6 hours over two days on a topic of education. This is a short-term writing intensive program during the vacation. For systematic and stable operation, the <Gulbang> program is equipped with a ‘program opportunity, preparation, execution, evaluation’ system. A total of 23 programs(30 classes) were opened from the first summer vacation in 2017 to the eight winter vacation in 2020. The contents of the program cover all aspects related to writing. In addition, the contents include activities related to the non-subject program of the writing and speaking contest, and writing for practical purposes for employment. The improvement measures for the development of the <Geulbang> program are as follows. First, it is necessary to spread outcomes to encourage learner participation. Second, face-to-face and non-face-to-face methods are used in parallel. Third, it is necessary to expand programs related to speaking. Fourth, the contents of the student satisfaction survey should be supplemented. This study is significant in that it provides information for the diversity of non-subject programs related to writing in universities.
