ABSTRACT

This study explored educational plans that can realize SDGs in university liberal arts education, and explored its possibilities. Specifically, it aimed to form a perception that learners could understand SDGs and independently build a common sustainable future by partially reorganizing the existing required liberal arts courses into subject-centered courses. In order to realize this purpose, the class was designed and proceeded with the composition of ‘Step 1: Forming background knowledge-Step 2: Deriving a problem-Step 3: Understanding the problem-Step 4: Solving a problem.’ In the first stage of forming background knowledge, SDGs were understood through lectures and related books. In the ‘problem derivation’ stage, reading and organizing books on economic inequality, I thought about the potential inequality problems in our society. And through discourse activities, I experienced the thoughts of others and cooperated to derive a common agenda. In the ‘problem recognition’ stage, a common agenda was shared and the current problem was recognized in multiple depths and depths. Based on this, in the ‘problem solving’ stage, various alternative frameworks were applied and a viable solution was sought.
