AB - The purpose of this study was to investigate the operating background and the necessity of standard lectures and introduce the case of S University to suggest an appropriate evaluation method of the course. The basic liberal arts courses in university are becoming more standardized to achieve the common learning goals and foster the writing proficiency of the learners. A detailed case about it is introduced to support the universities that plan to institute standard lectures in the future. In the case of S University, standard lectures of courses were established from 2019, and it was supplemented in stages and has been used as a common syllabus since the first semester of 2020. The significance of adopting standard lectures to point out is that learner satisfaction was heightened because the course professors had the same goal as they prepared for the course. In addition, 'limited relative evaluation' was applied to lessen the burden of the instructors about the evaluation, and the arrangement of measures that can initiate learners' motivation to learn was introduced as well. More precisely, the standardization process of the course cannot be perfect or be completed. However, if standardizing the education contents of the same course encourages the basic learning proficiency aimed by the common liberal arts curriculum, the implementation of the standard lecture can be examined on the bright side.
