ABSTRACT

This thesis is a case study focusing on Korean classical texts when you conduct classic reading at reading classes of liberal arts education at college. When making a classic reading list, it is impossible to present an ideal and complete list. This article starts with the premise that when selecting a reading list, it is necessary to consider ‘one's culture’ in addition to the criteria of ‘the recipient-centricity and the meanings of the day’. The influence and role of one's home country's classic reading, which can pass on the cultural identity and genes of traditional life, have special meanings. In this paper, as part of such an attempt, Kim Si-seop's short story 『Geumo Shinhwa(金鰲新話)』 is to be dealt with. 『Geumoh Shinhwa』 is a short Chinese novel written by Si-seup Kim while he was in hiding in Mt. Geumo. This paper aims to illuminate the diversity of interpretation and the dimension of narrative fun from various angles, focusing on the most widely known 「Leesaeng gyujangjeon(李生窺墻傳)」. This study summarizes the main research history, and exemplifies the direction of specific text interpretation.
