ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of social support on the core competencies of college students. Recently, core competencies of college students are being used as objective data for higher education performance. Students of A-university were under examined for statistical data analysis by online survey. The results are as follows. First, the social support factors appeared in the order of appraisal support > emotional support > informational support > instrumantal support. Second, the correlation between competency and social support was high: appraisal support > informational support > emotional support > instrumantal support. Third, in the analysis of the effect of social support on core competencies, emotional support was excluded because it was not statistically significant. The sub-factors of social support influenced core competencies in the order of appraisal support > informational support > instrumantal support.
