ABSTRACT

This study aims to explore methods for improving teaching by analyzing lecture evaluation texts from the university students' online community 'Everytime'. Lecture evaluations in universities hold significant importance, particularly as a resource for instructors to reflect students’ opinions and improve their lectures. However, the evaluations provided by the universities themselves can be one-sided and closed, thereby having limitations. This study, therefore, considers lecture evaluations from a student-centric online community to contemplate methods for student-focused teaching improvement. The analysis of lecture evaluation texts revealed that students prefer courses with less assignment and exam burden and rate highly those with concrete course and evaluation designs. Taking these aspects into account, this study discusses how instructors can improve their teaching methods effectively.
