ABSTRACT

The role of liberal arts education in the era of infinite competition to strengthen instrumental understanding of humans and individual students is more important than ever. This study examines the possibility of liberal arts lectures in which the goal of liberal arts education to form a human-like personality can be realized in an era when instrumental individualism is strengthened through the case of "Marriage and Family" class. The goal of the "Marriage and Family" class is to unfamiliarize the family experience you were familiar with by learning the various social influences and points of intervention through social science theory about the family, and to understand family members as complete human beings while recognizing the social power behind them. The effectiveness of the class was evaluated through qualitative analysis of the tasks conducted in the class. What could be confirmed through the students' changes in this class is that critical thinking leads to alternative emotions and emotional sensitivity to humans, and the horizon of alternative relationships can be possible through the experience of new emotions. This point shows the possibility that critical thinking can lead to an integrated understanding and emotional interpretation of humans and eventually lead to human social change.
