ABSTRACT

This paper aims to educate university students on writing reflective self-introduction through the study of Yun Dong-ju’s poems so that they can form a holistic identity while enhancing their creative humanity. Writing reflective self-introduction using Yun Dong-ju’s poems can help university students overcome the problem of writing a standardized personal statement and grow into creative and convergent talents. In addition, learning about Yun's youthful life and his poem, which reflected his inner world in the context of the times, can help students recognize their own identity. Through learning the poem of Yun Dong-ju, learners can discover a medium that reflects their inner selves and acquire the method of confessional writing that fosters reflective introspection. Learners complete a reflective self-introduction by going through a step-by-step practice process designed with a process-oriented approach. A series of self-exploratory exercises, including drawing a self-portrait caricature and writing a self-portrait poem that reflects inner qualities, can make the process of writing a reflective self-introduction both serious and fun. Reflective self-introduction based on self-portrait caricature and self-portrait poem can be a useful teaching method to help university students form a holistic identity in both face-to-face and online classes.
