ABSTRACT

This study conducted a keyword network analysis to identify the research trends and structural characteristics of general education for international students. Relevant academic papers were collected to extract core keywords, followed by term frequency (TF), TF-IDF, and N-gram analyses, as well as centrality and CONCOR analyses. The results revealed that international student, university, Korean language, general education, and education emerged as the primary core keywords. Furthermore, topics such as Korean for academic purposes, writing, curriculum operation, and program development were closely interconnected. The analysis also confirmed that the research is structured into four sub-clusters: 'research subjects,' 'academic Korean writing competencies,' 'Korean language curriculum operation in university', and 'integrated educational practice and multifaceted application'. These findings indicate that research on general education for international students forms a multidimensional and complex knowledge structure that encompasses both academic performance and educational practice. This study is significant in that it comprehensively elucidates the overall flow and knowledge-structural characteristics of research in this field, and it can serve as foundational data for the future design of general education curricula and subsequent research.
