Thesis Review Regulation

Article 1 Purpose:

This regulation aims to set forth the provisions related to the review of submitted papers.

Article 2 Convening of the Editorial Committee:

A meeting of the journal's editorial committee (hereinafter referred to as the "Committee") shall be convened as necessary to address matters related to the review of submitted papers.

Article 3 Paper Submission:

All submitted papers shall be received and processed by the Editor-in-Chief (hereinafter referred to as the "Chief Editor").

After the submission of the paper, any contact with the submitter shall only be made through the Chief Editor.

Submitted papers must comply with the paper submission regulations of the Korean Hyo Academic Society, and those that do not comply will be returned, specifying the reasons for non-acceptance.

Article 4 Appointment of Paper Reviewers and Review Requests:

Considering the research field of the submitted paper, the Committee shall select a PhD holder or an equivalent expert in that field as the paper reviewer (hereinafter referred to as "Reviewer"), and the Chief Editor shall appoint the Reviewer.

The Committee shall send the submitted paper, review request form, paper review form, and review fee to the Reviewer.

Article 5 Duties and Dismissal of the Reviewer:

The Reviewer shall be responsible for the review of submitted papers, decision on publication, and revisions related to journal publication, as commissioned by the Committee.

The Reviewer should review the manuscript and submit the paper review form to the Chief Editor within 10 days in principle.

If the Reviewer does not submit the paper review form within 15 days, they may be dismissed.

Article 6 Review Process:

The review process of submitted papers consists of two stages.

The first review, which examines the suitability of the field, format, and length, is conducted by the Editorial Committee.

Only papers that pass the first review will undergo a second review to evaluate their eligibility for publication.

Article 7 Number of Reviewers:

Papers that pass the first review will be reviewed by three experts in the field of the submitted paper. When requesting a review, the submitter's name must be removed from the paper.

Article 8 Review Criteria:

The Reviewer shall review the submitted paper based on the following criteria. However, for papers written upon the request of the society, some parts of the review process may be omitted based on the opinion of the Editorial Committee. The paper review items are as follows:

Suitability of the research topic (in line with the purpose of this society's establishment)

Quality and originality of the research

Validity of research methods and logical development

Appropriateness of paper structure and writing techniques (accuracy of references, footnotes, and citations)

Academic and societal contributions of research results

Compliance with the society's research ethics regulations.

Article 9 Review Decision:

The review results are categorized into four: 'Accepted', 'Accepted After Revision', 'Re-evaluate After Revision', and 'Not Accepted'.

As a rule, only papers that receive 'Accepted' or 'Accepted After Revision' from two or more out of the three reviewers are considered for publication.

For papers that receive the 'Accepted After Revision' decision, the author(s) must revise and resubmit within a week.

Papers that receive 'Re-evaluate After Revision' from two or more reviewers without a 'Not Accepted' verdict will be re-evaluated by one reviewer. If the re-evaluation decision is either 'Accepted' or 'Accepted After Revision', it is marked 'Accepted'. If the decision is 'Re-evaluate After Revision' or 'Not Accepted', it is marked 'Not Accepted'.

Re-evaluation should be conducted by the original reviewer(s), but the Editorial Committee can appoint different reviewers if deemed necessary.

If a reviewer decides 'Accepted After Revision' or 'Re-evaluate After Revision', they must specify the necessary revisions. If they decide 'Not Accepted', they must provide the reason(s).

Papers that receive a 'Not Accepted' decision from two or more reviewers will not be published.

Once the review is complete, the Editorial Committee will make the final decision on the papers to be published based on the review results.

Article 10 Confidentiality:

The list of reviewers and authors of submitted papers will not be disclosed to the public. Only the author(s) of the submitted papers will be informed of the review results.

Article 11 Certificate Issuance:

For papers approved for publication, if requested by the author(s), a certificate of upcoming publication can be issued under the name of the Chief Editor.

Article 12 Miscellaneous:

Papers simultaneously submitted to institutions or societies other than the Korean Hyo Academic Society are excluded from publication.

The language of the paper should be Korean, except for non-Korean members.

The principle language of the paper is Korean, but other languages can be used, including by non-Korean members.

Matters not specified in these regulations will be determined separately by the Editorial Committee.
