ABSTRACT

This study is aimed at examining self-awareness and other-awareness as affective variables in crisis and interpersonal relationship of traince soldiers, bxised on the research showing that most of the crises among soldiers occur in the early stage of their military service because of the problems in relationship with others. For the aim, this study set a goal to examine the relation of psychological crisis of traince soldiers to self-awareness, other-awareness and interpersonal flexibility. The test of self-awareness, other-awareness, flexibility of relationships, and psychologial crisis were administered to 901 traince soldiers who were admitted to the Army Training Center, Results showed that the self-awareness and other awareness affected the interpersonal flexibility and the psychological crisis. Also, interpersonal flexibility confirmed the mediating effect between self-awareness and psychological crisis. These results suggest that the psychological crisis of trainee soldiers is related to interpersonal flexibility and that self-awareness and other-awareness may have a positive effect on increasing interpersonal flexibility. Finally, the limitations of this study and the points to consider for further studies were proposed
