ABSTRACT

A new trend of the post-Cold War era after the middle of 1990's is a multi-archival research which was made possible by Soviet archives and Chinese documents. The debate on revisionism and traditionalism was revitalized within academic circles through this post-revisional multi-archival method. To liquidate the past and to meet the clean future, oral history is also very important. A new tendency of the Korean War studies in 2000's is to deal with Korean people's ordinary lifes in war which were covered by ideological conflicts. Orthodox histories of two separate governments depends only on documents excluding victim's memories. Common people's experiences in province were different from top class politicians in central governments. Ordinary people's lives in local levels were revealed by their interviews which were suppressed in the Cold War era. Their counter memories will become new sources of alternative history to integrate and conciliate the old left-right confrontations. And collecting interviews will be the foundation of oral history archives.
