AB - The purpose of the paper is to discuss the implication of an increase in the number of incoming Chinese tourists and region economic integration, introducing potential regional tourism resources for them and some methods to induce them to the regions of Kwangju City and Chollanamdo Province.
A recent improvement in accessibility to Gwangju-Jeonnam region was made by the opening of air transportation between Muan International Airpoet in Korea and some Chinese cities, now Shanghai only. But the application and utilization of various region's tourism resources has not been well-established yet.
In the meantime, many tourism attractions in the region have been recognized increasingly over time. And tourism investigators or researchers in the region began to believe that these attractions might call in much more Chinese travellers into the region than ever. In fact, the growth of the Chinese tourism market is the opportunity for the Gwangju-Jeonnam region to develop its tourism industry, because the region has lots of common such as cultural homogeneity, and is geographically closer than any other regions. To make good use of the opportunity, the whole region has to set up various plans to target potential Chinese tourists.
To achieve the goal of induding Chinese tourists, local governments should implement a variety of policies and utilize all the tourism resources to the extent that Chinese tourists pay attention to them naturally. Otherwise, the region may not escape the vicious circle of low development in the nation.
