AB - Today, the ageism or the gerontophobia is becoming a global issue. The life expectancy of mankind continues to increase, and as a result, many countries around the world face the same problem. Therefore, it becomes a hot issue to build a social safety system that can support the life of the senior generation. However, a more fundamental issue is our perception of the life of the old age. Negative perceptions of the life of the old age make it difficult to solve problems, as shown by the phenomenon of the ageism. So, many people have pointed out it is important to escape from the negative perceptions of the life of the old age. The disgust of the aging has never been ceased since the beginning of human civilization. But the gerontophobia of nowadays is different from that of the past. In traditional societies, the aging was repugnant, but it was also an inevitable fate. It was useless to resist the aging, but today it does not seem meaningless to resist the aging. The purpose of this article is to explication the changing aspects of the gerontophobia today. I will show the motive of that change is the change of our temporality in the asynchronous society. I hope, it help us to understand why it is not easy to solve the problems of the ageism, even if it does not provide a direct solution.
