ABSTRACT

This paper argues that some instances of caseless elements in Korean are derived via incorporation. In particular, some properties of Accusative Drop (AD) shown in (1a) and Genitive Drop (GD) shown in (1b) will be compared to incorporation languages like Mapudungun and Chammorro. The parallelism here will support the incorporation analysis of AD and GD in Korean. The main contribution of this is to provide novel observation for a battery of arguments about incorporation possibilities of case-less elements in Korean. Particularly, the observation here is in line with the recent claim made in Miyagawa et al. (2019) that there are cases of incorporation of case-less elements in Japanese.
