ABSTRACT

In South Korea, tuberculosis (TB) is considered as a terminated disease long before. However, incidence and fatality rate of TB in South Korea still have been ranked No.1 among OECD nations being a serious medical and social problem. Especially, TB is a social disease with its incidence influenced by socio-environmental determinants. Naturally, many current analyses on TB in the world try to combine bio-medical and socio-environmental determinants simultaneously. However, it should be noticed that most TB studies in South Korea only focused on bio-medical perspectives. Therefore, this study analyzes TB in socio-evironmental perspectives. In particular, this study applies Eigenvector spatial filtering methods accounting for spatial patterns of TB in South Korea.
