Objectives : The purpose of this study is to find the pronunciations suitable for the meanings of Chinese characters because the pronunciations of Chinese characters with multi-pronunciations in the 『Huangdineijing』 are written differently in Chinese character dictionaries(字典) and in Korean Medical dictionaries(韓醫學辭典) respectively. Methods : First, the annotations for pronunciations in the 『Leijing』 were searched, upon which the frequently mispronounced 16 Chinese characters in the 『Huangdineijing』 were selected. Then these selected Chinese characters were compared and considered with reference to Chinese character dictionaries(published in China and Korea), and Korean Medical dictionaries. Results & Conclusions : It was discovered that in 『Leijing』 there were 1,537 annotations that used ‘FanQie(反切)’, ‘Pronunciation(音)’, ‘Replaceable character(通用)’, ‘Same character (同字)’, ‘Four intonations(四聲)’ etc. In some places, there were additional meanings of the Chinese characters. It was found that 16 Chinese characters were susceptible to wrong pronunciations in the 『Huangdineijing』, for which the appropriate pronunciations in regards to the meaning of the sentences were determined.

Objectives : This paper is an analysis of the name ‘Shanghan(傷寒)’ and its related contents in unearthed documents. Shanghanlun as we know it is an edited version by Wangshuhe of the Jin period, as the original text as written by Zhangzhongjing has been unavailable. Recently in China, documents of the Xian Jin and Liang Han periods are being unearthed, allowing us to look at medical texts of previous times that Zhang referenced. The aim of this paper is to look at the developmental process of the Shanghan theory based on these medical texts. Methods : Research documents include all unearthed documents that include the name ‘Shanghan’. There were a total of 4 written cases, 2 in Wuweihandaiyijian, and one each in  Dunhuanghanjian and Juyanhanjian. Meaning of extracted examples were analyzed in reference to the shape of the character, then compared and analyzed with existing medical texts such as Shanghanlun, Jibeiqianjinyaofang, and Bencaogangmu Conclusions : By examining the 4 examples, Bianzhenglunzi and clinical prescriptions which are characteristics of Shanghanlun could be found. There was an ‘Eliminating Wind’ formula that was used to eliminate Cold pathogen of the exterior which showed remarkable resemblance to that found in Jibeiqianjinyaofang. There are also formulas that ‘Communicate to Disentangle’ and ‘Disentangle the Stomach’ which are used in progressed stages of Shanghan disease, showing that Bianzhenglunzi had already been applied to Shanghan conditions.

Objectives : This paper aims to suggest alternative interpretations to previous ones of ‘Daedong-eo-Hyeobui(大同於協義)’ and ‘Gakrip-eo-Cheonri(各立於擅利)’ in the chapter ‘Theories on Nature and Conduct(性命論)’ in Donguisusebowon(東醫壽世保元) which have been found to be inadequate. Methods : Previous interpretations were thoroughly examined, then evaluated based on the narrative form and logical probability of the Donguisusebowon(東醫壽世保元). Afterwards, correct interpretations of the contents were suggested based on the context of the chapter ‘Theories on Nature and Conduct(性命論).’ Results & Conclusions : Of ‘Daedong-eo-Hyeobui(大同於協義)’, Daedong(大同) should be interpreted as ‘to gather largely’ instead of ‘all the same.’ Hyeobui(協義) should be interpreted as ‘to submit willingly’ and not ‘to cooperate to Ui(義).’ In the case of ‘Gakrip-eo-Cheonri(各立於擅利)’, Gakrip(各立) means for people of same minds to rise against evil individually while Cheonri(擅利) refers to the evil of coveting for gains individually. There are other cases where existing interpretations have been erroneous other than the suggested examples, which prompts thorough re-evaluation of the text.
