ABSTRACT

Objectives : There are a few case reports on the treatment of fracture in patients undergoing osteoporosis by herbal medication with acupuncture and physical therapy. We got a good results on two patients with fracture undergoing osteoporosis by herbal medication with acupuncture and physical therapy. Methods : Patients were hospitalized at Dept. of Oriental Rehabilitation Medicine, College of Oriental Medicine, Dae-Jeon University, diagnosed as fracture with osteoporosis and treated mainly herbal medication ; Chungajihwang-tang(Qīngédìhuáng-tāng), with acupuncture and physical therapy. This study was measured by radiography, BMD(Bone Mineral Density) and VAS(Visual Analog Scale) score. Results & Conclusions : Symptoms of patient such as fracture with osteoporosis were improved following the treatment. Gross synostosis on radiography, VAS score decreased and BMD value incresed in both two patient. So it is suggested that oriental medical treatment; herbal medication with acupuncture and physical therapy are effective in fracture in patients undergoing osteoporosis.
