AB - This study aims to examine the production and management of archival records created and maintained by holders of traditional craft intangible cultural heritage (ICH), and to propose measures for improving records management. To this end, the definition and scope of ICH holder records were established through a literature review; the current state of ICH documentation projects and records management practices in public institutions was analyzed; and in-depth interviews were conducted with ICH holders. The findings indicate that, despite constituting a significant resource for documenting transmission lineages, working philosophies, and processes of the evolution of techniques, holder records are not being managed systematically, owing to low levels of records management awareness and insufficient support personnel. In response, the study proposes four strategies: (1) supplementing missing records through oral history interviews, (2) establishing a documentation framework for each stage of the production process, (3) providing records management education and support for ICH transmitters, and (4) developing a collaborative governance model involving training centers, local governments, and professional institutions.
