AB - This study analyzed the impact of new media use on individuals' emotional well-being and examined whether perceived interest conflict mediates this effect. This study utilized data from the 2024 Korea Institute of Public Administration's Social Integration Survey (N=8,251) and employed structural equation modeling to analyze mediation effects. Key findings revealed that higher levels of new media use were associated with a greater perceived interest conflict, which in turn worsened individuals' emotional well-being. Furthermore, perceived interest conflict partially mediated the relationship between these two variables, confirming the association between new media use, perceived interest conflict, and emotional well-being. Based on these findings, policy implications for fostering a healthy new media environment are presented.
