ABSTRACT

In this study, we developed an Ultra-Wideband (UWB)-based indoor positioning RTLS (Real-Time Location System) for indoor environments where GNSS signals are difficult to reach. The proposed system measures the distance between fixed anchor nodes and tag nodes attached to mobile objects using Time of Flight (ToF). This method provides high-resolution distance information. A trilateration algorithm is used to calculate two-dimensional positioning in real time. The experimental environment was constructed by arranging three anchors in a triangular shape in a 6 m × 6 m indoor space, and data were collected 300 times from 10 measurement points. The experimental results showed an average position error of 12.2 cm, demonstrating higher accuracy than conventional RSSI-based indoor positioning methods. This study demonstrates the potential applications of UWB-based RTLS technology in areas such as indoor autonomous mobility, smart logistics systems, and safety monitoring.
