ABSTRACT

This study investigates how Instagrammable attributes, including visual aesthetics, shareability, and self expressiveness, influence user generated content (UGC) and purchase intention among social networking service users. Visual aesthetics did not have a statistically significant effect on UGC (β = −0.141, t = −1.067), leading to the rejection of H1. In contrast, shareability (β = 0.481, t = 2.996) and self expressiveness (β = 0.536, t = 4.407) had significant positive effects on UGC, supporting H2 and H3. All three attributes were positively associated with purchase intention. Visual aesthetics (β = 0.183, t = 1.850), shareability (β = 0.379, t = 3.030), and self expressiveness (β = 0.352, t = 3.647) supported H4, H5, and H6, respectively. UGC also had a significant positive effect on purchase intention (β = 0.104, t = 1.750), supporting H7. These findings suggest that shareability and self expressiveness are more important than visual aesthetics in encouraging users to create content, whereas all three attributes contribute to purchase intention. The theoretical and practical implications of these findings, along with the study limitations, are discussed in the conclusion.
