AB - This paper outlines the research results related to lexicology over the two years of 2021 and 2022 and forecasts future research. A total of 133 papers were classified into comparative study (36), Japanese language education(26), meaning and usage(25), word types(20), socio-cultural research(12), word formation(6), social styles(3) and others(5). However, in recent studies, there have been many studies related to various fields, enough to indicate the trend with the keywords of ‘Big Data’, ‘AI’ and ‘Convergence’. In addition, with the emergence of new words using foreign words and mixed words in the social disaster of the COVID-19 pandemic, many studies on word types have been conducted. For the time being, studies that reflect recent research trends will form the mainstream.
It should not be overlooked that conventional research over the medium and long term is very important and should be continuously conducted in the future. At the same time, recent research - research that collects materials using big data, research that utilizes video, audio, image, etc., research that tries to utilize research results from the perspective of social change, cultural comparison and education - is also expected.
