ABSTRACT

In order to investigate cultural differences among the participants, this study analyzed and compared what topics were dealt with and how topics were developed using conversations between Korean residents in Japan (Korean residents, hereafter) and native speakers of Japanese (native Japanese speakers, hereafter). As a result, there was no difference observed as a whole, but there was a difference in the appearance rate when each data was observed. In addition, as a result of classifying and comparing topics by target, it was found that there were topics that were easy to choose. Topics on third parties tended to appear in conversations between Korean residents and native Japanese speakers. According to subcategorized comparisons of topics, native Japanese speakers often asked questions about their experiences each other and tended to disclose their personal information. It was found that cultural-related topics also tended to appear. In conversations between Korean residents and native Japanese speakers, they often asked questions about profiles and the situations of the other participants, and topics related to places tended to appear. Conversations between Korean residents and native Japanese speakers tended to deal with third parties, indicating that there was a correlation between culture and topics.
