An Analytical Study of the Project Performance Achievements of the General Center for Convergence Research: with a Focus on the Performance Achievements for 2017-2020

The purpose of this study is to examine and understand the current status of the project based on a comprehensive investigation and analysis of the General Center for Convergence Research’s project performance achievements established for providing the support of the convergence research support project of the National Research Foundation of Korea, and also examine and understand policies and project plans, etc. which may be used as the grounds thereto. In this study, based on a comprehensive investigation and analysis of the General Center for Convergence Research’s project performance achievements established for providing the support of the convergence research support project of the National Research Foundation of Korea, it was ensured that the current status of the project is identified and the basics such as policy and project plans are identified. The analysis of performance achievements was conducted by focusing on the performance achievements of the General Center for Convergence Research from September 2017 through June 2021. The General Center for Convergence Research is operating the convergence research information sharing platform activities, convergence research performance achievements diffusion activities, convergence research academic activities, and the convergence TIMES (status analysis and publicity activities) to expand convergence research culture, share convergence research performance achievements, and expand convergence research networks with a focus on the research teams performing the convergence tasks included for the interdisciplinary convergence research support project and the general joint research support project. When the research results are comprehensively analyzed, it turned out that the General Center for Convergence Research has achieved the Center's target performance achievements every year under a quantitative plan, and if the quantitative performance achievements are not achieved due to the unavoidable circumstances such as COVID-19, the maximum effort that may be seen as performance achievements has been made. Such efforts are intended to adequately perform the roles of expanding the humanities and social based convergence research, serving as a hub among the convergence researchers, which is the mission of the General Center for Convergence Research, and discovering the new agenda for the convergence research, etc.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors that affect the university students' participation in the employment support programs. Towards this end, the Korea Employment Information Service's 'University Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey' related panel data were used, and the variables that affect the participation in the employment support program with 3,916 students in 2-3 year and 4-year universities were analyzed as individual variables, university characteristics, and education, which were analyzed by classifying into the supporting variables and employment preparation factors. For the study, descriptive statistics and frequency analysis were conducted, and cross-tabulation and binomial logistic regression analysis were conducted to analyze the differences in the participation in the employment support program and the influential factors. The main analytical results are as follows. First, as a result of cross-analysis to confirm individual background differences in the employment support program participation, there was a significant difference in the employment support program participation according to gender, major, and school type. Second, as a result of the binomial logistic regression analysis conducted to identify the factors influencing the participation in the university student work experience program, the individual variables include humanities majors in majors, academic grades, recognition of youth subsidy, and student support system and career related counseling and satisfaction with the support system. Third, the factors influencing the participation in the work experience program at universities in the non-metropolitan areas were humanities among majors, student loans, grades, and satisfaction with the student support system and career related counseling and support system among educational support variables. Fourth, the factors influencing the participation in the work experience program for universities in the metropolitan areas were the individual variables, whether youth subsidy, university characteristics, school type, and employment preparation factors, job experience while attending school, volunteer work, and contest experience. Based on the results of the study, the implications for setting the direction of the university employment support program and the limitations of the study were discussed.

An Analysis of the Effect of Academic Achievement of the College Students Majoring in Health Information Management on the Extent of Need for Developing Digital Learning Tools Related to Medical Terminologies

This study is a research study conducted to examine and understand the effect of the academic achievement of the subjects related to the major of the health information management college students on the need for developing the digital learning tools. This study was conducted with the freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors majoring in health information management at University D located in Chungcheong-do, University K located in Uijeongbu, University B located in Busan, University J located in Jeonju, and University S located in Wonju. The purpose of this study was explained to them, and the students who voluntarily agreed to participate in the study were selected, while the analysis was finally conducted for 220 people. To understand the effect of academic achievement on the need for digital learning tools related to medical terminologies, T-Test, ANOVA, and the multiple linear regression were used for analysis. As a result of making correction for other control variables to examine and understand the correlation between the major related academic achievement and the need for medical terminologies related app development and the VR development, the need for developing an app learning tool increased by 0.60 point as the major related academic achievement increased by one unit, while the need to develop the VR learning tools increased by 0.71 point. Furthermore, as a result of the stratified analysis of the correlation between major related academic achievement and the need to develop the digital learning tools according to the Level of English proficiency, the correlation between the academic achievement and the digital learning tools was not significant in the ‘High’ English level group. In the case of this ‘Average’ group, as the major related academic achievement increased by one unit, the need for developing an app learning tool increased by 0.48 point and the need for developing a VR learning tool increased by 0.87 point. When the academic achievement increased by one unit, the need to develop an app learning tool increased by 0.98 point, while the need to develop a VR learning tool increased by 0.65 point. In line with the generalization of wireless communication services and the era of smart phone based learning, it is sought to provide the basic data for the development of digital learning devices which do not exist in the field of health information manager (HIM). Furthermore, if the medical terminologies based digital learning tools, which are the fundamental skills for the major program, are provided for the college students majoring in health information management with a low academic achievement in particular, for the majoring students with a low level of English, then along with the improvement of the major related learning interest and the self-directed learning skills, it is expected that the quality of the HIM will be improved.

An Exploratory Study of the Derivation of the Constructed Factors of the Parents' Strength Through the Phenomenological Study and the Revised Delphi Survey

The purpose of this study is to define the concept of the parents’ strengths and derive the constructed factors. To this end, a draft concept and the constructed factors were prepared by reviewing the literatures on the parents’ strengths, and the components of strengths necessary for the parents were explored and confirmed through a phenomenological study and a modified Delphi survey. After collecting the daily experience data that reconstructed activities and situations in which their parents’ strengths were expressed from 13 parents selected through an intentional sampling method, over 3 weeks, the components of the parents’ strengths were corrected through the in-depth interviews. Ten experts on parent education or positive psychology were selected as an expert panel, and a Delphi survey was conducted twice on the components of the parents’ strengths, and the content validity was secured by analyzing the mean, standard deviation, and the CVR values. According to the results, the parents’ strengths were consisted of the four factors of strengths related to growing, strengths related to building relationships, strengths related to problem-solving, and strengths related to contributing. Examining each sub-factor yielded what follows: 1) Strengths related to growing: Self-confidence, Introspection, Curiosity, Courage, Learning, Sincerity, Future-orientated, and Aesthetic, 2) Strengths related to building relationships: Love, Gratitude, Bonding, Accepting, Empathy, Expression, Individualization, and Caring, 3) Strengths related to problem-solving: Self-regulation, Flexibility, Deliberation, Insight, Resource utilization, Execution, Creativity, and Concentration, 4) Strengths related to contributing: Positive, Compassionate, Humorous, Vitality, Responsibility, Facilitating, Fairness, and Structuring. By identifying the definition of the parents’ strengths and their constituent factors, this study could contribute to the development of tools to measure the parents’ strengths and a strengths-based approach in the parenting education.
