The study was conducted with the purpose of finding out the factors influencing on the health behaviors of military officers and non-commissioned officers(NCO). For this, the questionnaires were distributed to 404 military officers and NCOs working in a combat branch on from March 11 to April 11, 2007. The average points from various questions surveyed were as follow: average stress points were 2.28; average self-efficacy points were 3.75; and average index of health practice were 3.94. The level of work accomplishment on the basis of 7 health behaviors were as follow: a non-smoking rate was 42.3%; a desirable drinking behavior rate was 67.5%; a regular exercise rate 59.7%; a proper weight maintenance rate was 73.8%; a proper sleeping time maintenance rate was 38.9%; a having breakfast rate was 46.8%; and a rate of desirable having snack was 65.1% As a result of simple analyses, The variables influencing the habit of smoking were an age, a religion, a position, a level of work accomplishment, and a level of health awareness; The variables influencing the habit of drinking were an age, a marital status, a religion, a military branch, a working periods, an anxiety of physical-ability test and a level of health awareness; The variables influencing an exercise were ranks, a level of work accomplishment, an anxiety of physical-ability, and alevel of health awareness; The variables influencing BMI were an age, a marital status, a status of living together, a military branch, an anxiety of physical-ability test, a physical test and results of physical test; The variables influencing the duration of sleep were a level of education, ranks, and days of night shift; The variables influencing breakfast were an age, days of non-return to home, and a level of work accomplishment; The variables influencing the eating habit of snacks were an age, a marital status, a status of living together, a military branch and a working periods; The variables influencing the level of stress were a education level, a living type, ranks, days of night shift, a level of work accomplishment, days of non-return to home, an anxiety of physical test, a level of health awareness, a physical test and results of physical test.
The results were analyzed by conducting a regression statistics with independent variables such as a general statistics, stresses and self-efficacies and with dependent variables such as the index of health practice. From the regression statistics, I found that influencing factors from these findings were the level of work accomplishment, an anxiety of physical test, stresses and the level of health awareness.
The results of the study may indicate that the test of physical strength has great influences on improving a physical strength of military officers and NCOs. In this light, in order to increase a rate of conducting exercises, it is necessary through collecting opinions to present efficient policies such as guaranteeing a time for 'combat physical training' and expanding a yearly physical test from one times to two times a year. Also, it is necessary to expand human rights counselors which were recently initiated and run by several military troops, in that those counselors help relieve and manage stresses. On top of this, health education and counselling centers are necessary so as to increase health conditions for military personnel.
