Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the international research trends of bioterrorism related research among nurses. Methods: Using the scoping review method, a search was done at Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane CENTRAL, and CHINAHL from 2001 to 2019. Finally, based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, 23 studies were analyzed according to general characteristics, key variables, instruments, and key findings. Results: Most studies were designed using quantitative methods (69.6%) and the majority of studies (47.4%) were conducted for nurse generalists regardless of their practice area (47.4%). The main variables used in the studies were objective knowledge, perceived preparedness and willingness to respond. However, there were few studies that used tools with guaranteed reliability and validity to measure variables. The level of nurses’ knowledge, willingness to respond and perceived preparedness to bioterrorism were low, and in particular, the will to response to infectious diseases was confirmed as a central concept among other variables. The education program related to bioterrorism had a positive effect on the key variables reinforcement. Conclusion: The study on bioterrorism for general nurses needs to be explored. Further research should be activated by exploring new research strategies such as tool development, qualitative research, and predictive model construction.

Purpose: This study has been conducted to identify the relationships between perception, knowledge, and healthcare behaviors of particulate matter among Korea Armed Forces Nursing Academy (KAFNA) cadets. Methods: The study was a cross-sectional survey, and 269 KAFNA cadets participated in the study. The questionnaire consisted of 48 questions about perception, knowledge, and healthcare behavior of particulate matter. Data were analyzed by independent t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson’s correlation analysis. Results: The average score of perception of particulate matter was 48.04±7.79 out of 75, knowledge of particulate matter 5.58±1.32 out of 10, and healthcare behaviors of particulate matter 77.39±10.60 out of 115. There was significantly positive correlation between perception and healthcare behaviors on particulate matter (r=.53, p<.001). Conclusion: Based on the study results, the program for enhancing perception on particulate matter is needed to improve the healthcare behaviors among KAFNA cadets. The result of this study is expected to be used as a evidence for developing health promotion education or programs for cadets and particulate matter related policies in the future.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the Republic of Korea's military nurse managers' perceived importance and performance of nursing managerial competencies and to measure the gap between them. Methods: With a questionnaire asking clinical nursing managerial competencies categorized into 42 competencies under 5 nursing management processes, the authors analyzed a total of 146 data collected from first-line, middle and top managers working in military hospitals. One-way ANOVA and Importance-Performance Analysis were mainly conducted to identify the current status of the managers' perceptions and the discrepancy between them. Results: The average perception scores on the importance and performance were 4.36 and 3.66, respectively. There were significant differences in the perceived importance and performance on nursing managerial competencies among the different manager groups. An IPA demonstrated that top managers needed to concentrate on developing competencies of vision-building, motivation, and performance management, middle managers on vision-building, human resources development, professionalism, and self-management, and first-line managers on change management, staffing management, human resources development, leadership, professionalism, motivation, and development of nursing standards. Conclusion: To strengthen the clinical nursing managerial competencies, education/training programs customized for each management group should be developed and delivered.
