ABSTRACT

Purpose : This study was to identify job stress, coping type and nursing performance of junior nursing officers. Method : This descriptive study was conducted using a structured questionnaire from July 1, 2009 to July 20, 2009. The data was analyzed using the t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test and Pearson's correlation coefficient in SPSS 12.0 Windows. Result : There was no significant correlation between stress and nursing performance, but there was a significant correlation between nursing performance and coping types. The data showed a strong positive correlation between nursing performance and positive perspective and tension removal. The correlation between nursing performance and indifference was negative. Conclusion : The results of this study suggest a continuous study is needed to find related factors which affect nursing performance. The systematic and individual effort should be focused on effectiveness of coping types to improve nursing performance for the junior nursing officers.
