ABSTRACT

Purpose : The aim of this study was to develop a preventive management program of job stress for military officers in their 20's and 30's. Method : The study was conducted in two stages: the first stage was building a theoretical framework and the second stage was the actual development of preventive management program of job stress for military officers in their 20's and 30's. We based our theoretical framework on the preventive management model of job stress by Quick & Quick (1984) and the British job-related stress management standards by HSE(2001). Results : Somatization and anxiety were the most common job stress responses. Major factors on job stress were insufficient job control and job demand. Therefore, we developed our program to be suitable for both individuals and organizations in an effort to decrease and possibly prevent somatization and anxiety response caused by job stress. We also provided a detailed procedure on practicing the program to aid the military personnel involved. Conclusion : Our program examined job stress of military officers in their 20's and 30's, and enhanced their ability to cope with job stress individually.
