AB - Purpose : The purpose of this study was to determine the job satisfaction and its association with job-related factors, professional job perception, job stress and social support among nursing officers. Method : The survey was administered to 542 nursing officers who worked in military hospitals from Oct.1 to Nov.30. 2010. The data were analyzed by t-test and ANOVA, Correlation, Regression with SPSSWIN(ver.14.0). Results : Job satisfaction is positively correlated with professional job perception and social support, while it is negatively correlated with job stress. The odds ratio of job satisfaction were significantly decreased in groups of higher professional job perception and social support than in lower, whereas they were increased in groups of higher job stress. The results of Hierarchical Multiple Regression analysis reveal that the input factors with explanatory power of 56.8% have higher job satisfaction. Conclusion : The study found the professional job perception, high social support, and low job stress tends to improve job satisfaction. The effective strategy to increase job satisfaction of nursing officers is to review job related factors at work and to improve the level of recognition of professional expertise.
