ABSTRACT

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to define the roles and duties of nursing officers assigned to the medical battalion of a division and to develop job standards for them. Methods : This study is a methodological research based on principle of job standards development for professional nurses suggested by Korean Nursing Association. First of all, a preliminary list of job standards for nursing officers were made by reviewing literatures, interviewing nursing officers working at the divisional medical battalion, and collecting opinions of the senior group. Secondly, the job standards was constructed by using Content Validity Index(CVI); and then, verified a practical compliance of the job standards. Finally, by gathering the opinions of the expert group, it was possible to define the job standards of nursing officers at the medical battalion. Results : We developed 5 job standards of nursing officers who were assigned to the medical battalion of the division including 13 criteria, 32 indicators and 93 nursing affairs. Job standards contain nursing service provider, educator, leader, consultant, and collaborator. Conclusion : The results are expected to help establishing policy which improve working conditions and workers' efficiency at the medical battalion by applying the job standards, measuring performance and accumulating data.
