ABSTRACT

Purpose : The purpose of this study is to provide the basis of further educational contents and suggest directions for measuring nurse officer's knowledge level about legal aspects on nursing documentation. Methods : The subjects of this study were 238 nursing officers who were doing nursing activities in over-500-beds military hospitals. Modified questionnaire of Kim & Park’s(2007) survey was performed. And data were analyzed with frequency, t-test, ANOVA and Scheffe test by SPSS 20 Statistic Program. Results : The knowledge level on nursing documentations of nursing officers was not higher than that of civilian nurses. Also, nursing officers did not fully understand the principles for charting and showed lower knowledge level. Even in cases of experienced nurses, some who had not received specialized education on nursing documentation showed low knowledge level on nursing documentations. Conclusion : It is essential to provide specialized education programs and regular charting-education in order to improve the level of professional knowledge on nursing documentation.
