ABSTRACT

Purpose: This study was conducted to explore the correlation between the factors of admission process and academic achievement of Korea Armed Forces Nursing Academy (KAFNA). Methods: The participants of the study were 159 cadets who entered the KAFNA in 2014 and 2015 and graduated from the '14-'17 curriculum. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson correction coefficient. Results: The total score of the admission examination and the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) score were significantly related to the total score of academic achievement. In addition, the score of the secondary admissions examination, the score of physical examination and interview were significantly correlated with the total score of academic achievement. There was not a significant difference between academic tract of high school and academic achievement of KAFNA. The primary admissions examination score and academic score in high school of the admission factors were not related to the total academic achievement score, degree education score, and extracurricular score. Conclusion: In conclusion, it is necessary to redefine the composition, proportion, allocation of the factors of admission process of KAFNA.
