ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is to examine the new relational issues between artists and artworks that arise from artworks created through the collaboration of humans and machines (AI). It reviews the stance of OOO, who argues for the autonomy of artworks, and analyzes the hybrid stance between artists and artworks. This makes it clear that artworks, created through a series of processes until now, are hybrid objects with self-generative structures arising from different relationships. In this context, the new relational issues posed by recent AI are crucial for exploring the concepts of art and artists. The consideration of the characteristics of artworks as hybrids, with machines as living systems, reveals the potential for more complex relationships to emerge. The hybrid system of artists and artworks, which has primarily considered humans as the main subject until now, suggests a future where the role of humans is delegated to other entities, leading to interactions among objects and the creation of new hybrid artworks.
