AB - The translation in colonial Joseon was modern phenomenon, to advance a time delay, to get a world historical simultaneity. It is the appearance of realism style that the desire to translation was the most consciously exteriorized case. At this time, being worthy of note is that realism drama has formed with the influence of socialism at once. With the thought revolution―the evolution theory’s socialistic appropriation―socialism offered the perspective of realistic representation. Socialism was accepted as a modern knowledge extensively regardless of authors’ political attitude. First of all, the best feature was the discovery of lower classes. They were represented as physical existence that was able to show the inevitability of reformation. The lower classes drama become the place showing that socialistic epistemology is the determinant of narrative. But censorship derived from the crisis of language and representation in realism drama. Nevertheless the authors’ struggle for this institutional pressure produced distinctive features. Those were summarized the rhetoric of reversion and the emotional excess. And socialism’s influence arranged ‘family’ newly. That was understood the socialization of family. Namely family the buffer zone between the realm of family relations and the realm of society. However the importance of society was increased, on the other hand a individual was reduced or erased. We call this the becoming hollow of individual. The relation of individual and the society was non-dialectic and non-symmetrical. This resulted from crippling colonial modernization. And this situation was concerned that on the one hand realism drama and socialism mixed, on the other socialism and Sinpa mixed. This network at once was the core of the former realism drama, there is socialism in its center. But when realism drama shut from socialistic perspective, this means that realism drama cut the network those and exist as a realistic description. That realism drama got a vitality by the progress’s logic was ironically the moment that it placed itself at the service of nationalism.
