Aspects of drama texts contained in the Korean language school-book in accordance with the curriculum developments

ABSTRACT

The literary texts contained in the school-book naturally have been regarded as the canon. In this paper, we investigate the drama texts contained in the Korean language school-book from 1950's to 2000's. These drama text had been selected in the educational viewpoints and censorship, so ideological viewpoints might be intervened in these procedures. It was proved that there were too prejudiced tendencies in playwright, genre and thesis. It seems to be interesting that there were too many changes in accordance with the curriculum developments. At first periods, speech ability was emphasized. But at second periods, knowledge based education was emphasized. At third periods, reception theory was adapted. In the future, the immergence of multimedia and the growth of receptive capacity can change the concepts of drama education in middle schools gradually.
