ABSTRACT

This paper makes a review of the repertoires and the aesthetics of format on the popular plays in the half 1930s. And this paper explains the relations between the repertories and Korean popular theater companies in the half 1930s. I studied the repertoires and the aesthetics of format on the six popular plays. This dissertation has been written with a purpose to examine and to understand the repertoires and the aesthetics of format on the six popular plays in the half 1930s. The plays are classified into two pieces. Camellia blossom(동백꽃), Loyalty with tears in the wild(폐허에 우는 충혼), A pair of lovebirds(원앙), and Cotton ball(목화) are the plays who gives us a valued insight on the type both composition and character. The studies on the repertoires and the aesthetics of format on the popular plays in the half 1930s are very few and confined to some authors. But the studies on the plays in the half 1930s should be supplemented imminently. Korean popular plays in the half 1930s seeks after the harmony of the composition, the characters and the musics, and has a final purpose to suggest the alternative. The study on Korean popular plays in the half 1930s should be gathered in obtaining critical vision including urgent problems of contemporary aesthetics, and in wise critical intervention giving rise to writing a work.
