ABSTRACT

In the past, the official memories of the war was within range of strong anticommunism, and the battlefield sceneries that were seen in TV show had also been reproduced within a certain pattern in a comparatively monotonous manner. In particular, the drama, Jeonwoo (Comrades) has been continuously remade on the specific occasion to commemorate the outbreak of war having created an archetype of a war drama claiming to support anticommunism. In line with this, Jeonwoo which was produced in 2010 in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the outbreak of Korean war has been disparaged as an anachronistic work that was born under the tight political situation. However, at the hidden side of the typical method of event development and reappearance of conventional heroic figure, there exists deep skepticism not only on ideology but also on the war itself. At the same time, at the hidden side of the sacrifice with which soldiers have died for their country, doubt and resentment, and sight of resistance are revealed simultaneously since the principal agent that promoted all such violence was the state. In spite of fundamental conservativeness principle of TV, it can be said that such cracking points shown in the drama is a reflection of the times of historical introspection after passing through the age of reckless anti-communism. In addition, it is significant that people in the present generation remember and commemorate the memory of the war in the past, and that this is an extension of work in order to make it meaningful.
