AB - 조복행의 『뮤지컬의 상호매체성과 혼종의 미학』은 뮤지컬 이론서가 부족한 뮤지컬 출판시장에서 이론서다운 중량감을 보여준다. 기존의 매체이론과 미학이론을 적용하여 뮤지컬의 재매개화, 뮤지컬화 현상을 분석하려는 시도가 돋보이는 책이다. 그러나 뮤지컬의 상호매체성을 긍정적인 특징으로 상찬하면서도 실제 뮤지컬 현장은 재매개화라는 용어로 비판하며 뮤지컬에 대한 기존의 보수적 관점을 벗어나지 못하고 있다. 이러한 이론과 현장 사이의 괴리는 뮤지컬의 이론화가 아직 요원한 과제임을 상기시켜준다.
